COWAL RINGERS

This is a vibrant group comprising 10 handbell players and up to 10 hand chime ringers. This combination of the two subtly different but complementary sounds makes for a unique musical experience. Each of the players plays either two bells or two chimes in each piece so there can be a total of 20 bells and 20 chimes being played per piece (not all at once!). 

The group has a strong social awareness so there is a supporting personal mentor system provided for all new players.  This provides ongoing musical help and support as required so being able to read music is not a joining requirement. All eventually becomes clear! The weekly rehearsals conclude with tea or coffee and wide-ranging chat time

Rehearsals take place on Monday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm. The year normally starts in early September and ends early April with a short break for the Christmas period. We aim for 3 concerts per year based on an expanding and varied repertoire.
