Hobbies Workshops

Repl

The Kilmun hobbies group which meets at Kilmun hall on a Thursday afternoon at 2.00 to pursue our own crafts or share ideas over a cuppa is leading on a new community project along the shore.  The group will continue as a friendly session open to all on most Thursdays of the month.  However linked with the 52 stitched stories project which meets at the Burgh Hall monthly Kilmun hobbies group have arranged a series of workshops - thanks to very generous local and talented people - with a view to learning new skills, and making postcard sized items telling a story about life along the shore as part of the project. These could result in a multi- medium  wall hanging for Kilmun hall, or other venues/halls/homes; it will be up to the workshop participants to decide, but will be gathered together as part of the community project at some point..

Our theme is  'Living along the shore' which gives us lots of scope and we agreed that we will loosely focus on the 4 seasons and each season we will look at

- 4 topics,

the loch ( eg boats, views, hills, sunrise, sunsets,  birds),

the shore (eg piers, birds, pebbles, seaweed, rubbish?),

the forestry/arboretum (eg trees/bark/leaves, squirrels, birds, flowers, deer),

the community, (eg groups, meeting places, people, houses, activities)

Originally the project was started on Aran and was focussed on stitching, but locally this has expanded to include many mediums and not necessarily a postcard sized item a week! (https://52stitchedstories.com).  On Saturday 14 March Fiona Doubleday who started the project on Aran will visiting the Burgh Hall and talking about the project and hopefully doing a demonstration.

If you are interested in being part of this community project and producing items the workshops will be at 2.00pm on the 4th or 5th, Thursday of the month, starting in March

All workshops will be in the Kilmun, Younger hall for 2 hrs except printmaking which will be in Debra's studio at 10.30 and 1.30 and will last 2.5 hrs. More info will follow.  it is not essential to attend all workshops, but important to sign up to the idea of contributing, by participating and sharing, to thiscommunity project, hopefully over 52 weeks.
